A St Mary's Calne pupil has had her artwork shortlisted in Saatchi's LOVE ART Young Artist Competition.

Year 13 pupil Alice Wade's short film The Pits, is just one of 12 artworks to be shortlisted by the Saatchi LOVE ART Young Artist Prize 2018 competition and is being exhibited at CASS ART Islington until Tuesday, May 8.

The work will then go to a live auction on closing night.

Alice said: "I am thrilled to be included in the shortlist and recognised by such a renowned gallery. I can't wait to see my work exhibited this weekend. My short film The Pits explores the perception of female body hair; I believe your body is a canvas, have fun with it."

Director of art at St Mary's Kimberly Pallot, added: "We are absolutely thrilled that Alice has had her work shortlisted in this prestigious competition. She is up against established artists so it is a great achievement to have been shortlisted in the final 12. If her work wins it will also be exhibited at the Saatchi Gallery, London – a significant accolade which adds gravitas to the quality of the work that Alice produces.”

Competing against other artists aged between 11 and 29, Alice is waiting to find out if she will see her work featured n The Saatchi Gallery Magazine and shown at a special exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery. The four prize winners will be announced later this month.
