A Malmesbury hotel has won its four star award from the AA.

The Old Bell Hotel situated next to the 12th Century Malmesbury Abbey recently underwent a £1 million restoration of the restaurant, bar, lounges and rooms.

Its restaurant, The Refectory, was also awarded an AA Rosette for culinary excellence.

General Manager of the family owned hotel, Christophe Dumiege, said: "We are exceptionally delighted that our hard work and high standards have been recognised.

"We are extremely proud of The Old Bell Hotel and intend to make it the best UK Country House and Hotel situated in a town centre.

"Our Head Chef, Frédéric Fetiveau has created menus of Modern British Classics with a European twist which are proving to be very popular - as are our regular events including special dinner nights, Jazz evening and a range of cultural activities."

The restaurant offers lunch, dinner, afternoon tea and cocktails throughout the week, as well as options for meetings and private dining.
