DEVIZES Town snatched a late point on Tuesday night as they clinched a dramatic 2-2 draw away to Cheddar.

Darran Walters watched his side fall behind early on as Nathan Best was able to prod home from close range following a corner kick.

However, Devizes rallied and got back on terms before the break thanks to Jamie Wallen’s free-kick late in the first half.

In the second, the hosts were ahead again. This time Steve Sokol was on target for Cheddar and they looked to be on their way to three points after Jack Hopper saw red for two yellow cards.

Thankfully for Devizes, Thomas Slater was on hand to score from the spot, after the visitors were awarded a penalty in the 88th minute.

Boss Walters said: “I was delighted with a point, to be honest. I would have taken it before the game.

“As the game went on, I was more than happy with the result.

“We didn’t play well. We were below-par and we went a goal down before getting level at half-time.

“Then we conceded again in the second half, had a player sent off with 20 minutes to go and if anything, that gave us a lift.

“That 20 minutes was the best we played in the game and credit to the lads for keeping at it.”

Elsewhere, Chippenham Park were also involved in midweek action.

They also drew 2-2 as they faced Radstock Town, with Aaron Ledgister and Lewis McCarron notching for Park.

The result stretched their unbeaten run to three games, following their 0-0 draw with Wiltshire rivals Corsham Town at the weekend.

Malmesbury Victoria could only manage a 1-1 draw with Bishop Sutton at the Flying Monk Ground in midweek.

Kevin Bridgeman's side were pegged back after Josh Hughes had given them an early advantage.

Calne Town were without a league fixture this week.
