FOUR bands are set to compete for a number of prizes at the final of the Take The Stage battle of the bands competition at the Neeld in Chippenham.

The competition, which started on February 2 and has seen 12 local bands come to play in the town's biggest music venue across four heats, will reach its conclusion on Friday night.

Trowbridge band The Compact Pussycat will go head to head with Bath-based grunge outfit Vrillon, Chippenham's indie rockers Novus Actus and Chippenham and Bath-based funk-rock five piece Turpentine.

All four bands will be competing for a mainstage slot at Fieldview Festival, as well as slots at Chippfest, the Fire and Forge Festival, plus two weeks free recording time at Riverbanks Studios in Chippenham.

Organiser Tom Mallard, of Riverbanks Studios, said: "The talent on display this year has exceeded our expectations once again, it’s great to be able to support young musicians so early on in their career and watch them perform to such large and supportive crowds.

"All four finalists put on incredible shows in the heats and look set to make our judges job very difficult in the final."

Doors open from 7.30pm and entry costs £3.
