HEART-SHAPED cupcakes and love heart sweets helped pupils at The Corsham School raise £400 for the British Heart Foundation.

Pupils from Year 7 and Year 11 revealed the total amount raised from their Valentine's Day inspired fundraiser during assembly on Monday, helping the charity fund vital research into heart and circulatory problems.

"The school raised an amazing £400 for the British Heart Foundation by selling and delivering Valentine Hearts to help make someone's day," learning manager Emma Fairbairn said. "I am very proud of the students' enthusiasm and efforts to raise such a fantastic amount."

Jane Turner, fundraising manager at the British Heart Foundation, said: “For over 50 years the BHF has pioneered research that’s transformed the lives of people living with heart and circulatory conditions. Our work has been central to the discoveries of vital treatments that are changing the fight against heart disease.

"It’s only because of public support that the BHF can continue its vital work fighting heart disease.

"Every pound raised by Year 7 students at The Corsham School will be spent on funding new scientific breakthroughs.”
