BUDDING athletes of the future have been treated to a workout by a Paralympic athlete at Cherhill Church of England Primary School.

Paralympic sprinter Katrina Hart who won a bronze medal in the 2012 London Paralympic Games got both the pupils and the teachers hearts racing with a circuit of spotty dogs, star jumps, press ups and leg drives.

After their workout, Katrina took an assembly at the school, answering the kids’ questions on what she did to get to where she is today.

PE subject leader Sarah Price, said: “They loved it, they had a really good time.

“She did the assembly and answered questions. They asked things like when was her first race, what medals had she won, who motivated her, who inspired her and what sort of training she did.

“The whole school took part including teachers and teaching assistants."

The visit was organised through Sports for Schools, which encourages young people to live a healthy lifestyle.

The group sees schools raise money to fund a visit from an athlete and then the sum is split between the organisation and the school.
