THERE are huge shortages of home care workers in East Wiltshire because staffing levels can't keep up with the ageing population.
Now a campaign that shines a light on the benefits of the career has been launched.
Local care boss Nell Light has launched the 'You Can Care' scheme with the aim of dispelling pre conceived ideas about what caring is all about.
There is currently a shortage of 90,0000 workers in the social care sector UK wide and Ms Light, owner of the Andover and East Wiltshire office Home Instead Senior Care is looking for 60 more pairs of hands to care for vulnerable people in the community.
Ms Light said: “We want to show people the human stories, the fantastic relationships and the real side of caring, as it should be. Being a caregiver can be a wonderfully rewarding career for compassionate people and the new ‘You Can Care’ campaign will champion all the positive aspects of care.”
The hashtag #youcancare has been created to support the campaign. As well as sharing positive stories, the company will also be offering tips, advice and support for the hundreds of people caring for family members in the local area.
