AUTHOR and founder of the Marlborough Community Choir Vanessa Lafaye has passed away at the aged of 55 after living with cancer for a number of years.

Just one week before she died, she conducted the popular community choir at the Mayor’s Civic Dinner in Marlborough Town Hall. Mrs Lafaye passed away on February 28 with her husband James by her side.

They had recently come back from a once in a lifetime trip to New Zealand and Australia, which she blogged about on her website.

Blog Living While Dying had readers from across the world and traced her experiences with cancer following her diagnoses in 2009.

She also published two novels, Summertime and At First Light and spoke at last year’s Marlborough Literary Festival.

Information about funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.

The Marlborough Community Choir are set to meet next Wednesday at St Peter’s Church.
