FROZEN race grounds meant that a horse charity’s annual fundraising raceday was cancelled on Friday.
However Greatwood, a charity based in Marlborough, which rehabilitates and rehomes former race horses, has already announced that the rescheduled event will take place at Newbury Racecourse on April 21. The charity will sponsor two races on the day which will see horses race on the flat around the Berkshire course.
Head of fundraising at the charity Sasha Thorber-Hooper said: “The race day is an integral part of our fundraising.
“Tickets are still available, the silent auction is continuing until April and we are really grateful to Newbury Racecourse to be sponsoring two of the races on the new event day. It will be warmer by then so we hope to sell some more tickets too.”
The charity is also running a fundraising silent auction, with items up for grabs including a framed limited edition print by artist John King, a hot air balloon ride and an afternoon of clay pigeon shooting.
All the details and ticket information is on the charity website.
