A TEAM of Hardenhuish School pupils have been selected to show off their science skills at the UK finals of a science and engineering competition.

The four-strong team of 14-year-olds, Abbie Chapman, Andrew Gray, Charlotte Payne and Pierre-Marie Semichon from Chippenham caught the attention of judges at the regional heats of the Big Bang Fair with their construction-themed project and have now been invited to take on the challenge in the finals at the Birmingham NEC in March.

Beth Elgood, director of communications at EngineeringUK, said: “The team from Hardenhuish School really impressed the judges with their project and we’re excited to see how they do at the finals at the fair.”

Physics teacher Chris Winter, who oversaw the project, added: “I am very proud of the students’ efforts, as they have all worked extremely hard as a team.

“They have shown so much enthusiasm and commitment to bring this project to fruition whilst studying for A-levels.”
