TEENAGERS gave a service with a smile as they helped M&S shoppers in Trowbridge to pack their bags to raise funds for their trip to the World Scout Jamboree.

Wiltshire Scouts George and William Lister, Noal Mondal, Joseph Pearce, Josh Thorne, Mollie Nevill and Corey Gair helped customers with their shopping to raise £439 on Saturday.

The seven youngsters all need to raise £4,000 to go to West Virginia for a week of activities at Summit Bechtel Reserve in July 2019.

"The Scouts did a really good job, they were very polite, helpful and did it all with a smile," said Josh's mother Helen, from Trowbridge.

"They were at it for a good six hours and they got plenty of compliments from the appreciative shoppers. It was a really worthwhile event and it helps them inch closer to their target.

"We are hoping to do some more in the future. There will be a good mix of things they do, such as craft fairs, cake sales, raffles, tombolas or even just doing odd jobs for their neighbours.

"The reason they have to raise £4,000 is that there are people coming from all of the world, so this amount helps to subsidise those that go from poorer countries.

"I want to thanks M&S for agreeing to this."

The seven teenagers, who are from Trowbridge, Bradford on Avon, Broughton Gifford and Warminster, have been chosen to join the final team of 45 to represent Wiltshire and they will be joined by 39,993 other scouts from across the world.
