ASHLEY Brace’s showdown against Spaniard Melania Sorroche for the vacant European bantamweight strap will now take place in Merthyr Tydfil on December 15.
The fight was due to be held at the Newport Centre seven days earlier but has been switched to avoid clashing with Lee Selby’s defence of his IBF world featherweight crown in London.
Sanigar Events have also announced two Welsh title fights for their Merthyr Tydfil Leisure Centre show.
Gavin Gwynne, who like Brace and Selby is trained by Tony Borg at St Joseph’s in Newport, faces Cardiff’s Henry Janes for the vacant lightweight belt.
Unbeaten Gwynne was supposed to tackle Janes for the championship last month before the latter pulled out injured.
Meanwhile, the vacant light-heavyweight bauble will be contested between Cardiff’s Nathan Thorley and Pontypridd’s Jermaine Asare, both former Commonwealth Games bronze medallists.
Also on the bill are St Joes duo Fred Evans and Dan Barton, along with Cardiff pair Craig Kennedy and Jacob Robinson, son of ex-world champion Steve Robinson, and Swansea’s Kristian Touze.
Promoter Jamie Sanigar said: “The Welsh title certainly brings the best out of Welsh boxers and these two contests will not disappoint.
“It’s a major boost for Welsh boxing to have secured free-to-air coverage on S4C.”
Another St Joes fighter, European lightweight champion Craig Evans, has been added to the Copper Box Arena bill – the same one that will see Selby defend his crown – on December 9.
