A BEARDED Viking brought his tent and fireplace and set up camp in Langley Fitzurse School last week as school's history lesson was brought to life.
Hrothgar the Viking was joined by 24 children from Pegasus Class, aged 6-8, on Wednesday (July 19) where they learnt about the way Viking's lived and the culture they followed.
The living history segment was the final instatement in the class' Viking-themed term, where most of their lessons revolved around the Norse seafarers.
Johanna Nathanson, Pegasus class' teacher, said: "They were fascinated by all the Viking artefacts, especially the big sword, and each took turns to try to get a sound from the long horn, which wasn’t as easy as it looked!
"He taught them to make fire the Viking way with flint and steel, showed them a game of the period, and helped them re-enact a saga about the god, Thor. It was a wonderful day and it really brought the children’s learning to life."
During the term, Pegasus Class have been busy learning about the geographical location of Viking settlements, their religion and building their own longships.
