A CHIPPENHAM man has been left with a fractured cheekbone after he was knocked out by a group of men when he left a pub last weekend.
The 50-year-old man, who had an altercation with a woman in the Black Horse Pub last Saturday, was followed onto St Mary's Street at around 2.30am when he was violently attacked by the woman and a group of four or five men.
Detective Constable Rob Goacher said: “The man was knocked unconscious and sustained a fractured cheekbone as a result of the attack. He attended the Royal United Hospital in Bath for treatment.
“We would like to appeal to any witnesses to the incident – it happened in the early hours of Saturday morning and there would have been people in the area heading home from a night out.
“Did you see or hear anything suspicious? Please get in touch. We are carrying out a robust investigation into this nasty incident and any information from witnesses could be extremely significant.”
Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
