YOUNGSTERS enjoyed a sleepover with a difference when a pop-up campsite was set up in a village near Devizes.

The parent teacher association of St Nicholas School, Bromham organised The Big Sleepover and raised £412.55 which will go towards a new laptop for the school.

Tents were put up at Abbott's Wood Farm and despite torrential rain everyone had a good time. A spokesman for the PTA said: "It really was so much fun and everyone enjoyed themselves. The comradery, team spirit and determination to have a great time regardless of the, at times, torrential rain is what made it a brilliant event.

"We had it all weathers osunshine, strong winds, rain and the most beautiful double rainbow and the turnout was still 95 per cent for which the PTA can only thank you every parent and family member that made it such a fabulous event."

A number of games including welly wanging, rounders, trailer rides, cricket and football were held as well as a few spontaneous activities such as rain sledging and puddle jumping added because of the rain.

Marshmallow toasting and a sing along around the campfire helped to keep spirits boosted. The PTA thanked everyone who gave donations and helped make the event a success.
