READING Les Welling’s most excellent letter about the ‘jobsworth’ at Wiltshire Council who has effectively blocked the Lions from holding their May Fair, one must ask what gives one person the authority to impose these restrictions?
Doesn’t legislation dictate the requirements for holding an event, in which case the question is has the law been changed since last year? If it hasn’t then, surely, someone’s ‘whim’ cannot prevail?
