A BOWERHILL-based engineering company has celebrated its thirtieth year in business and has started to look forward to the next thirty years.

Kristek, in Pegasus Way, Bowerhill, was founded in 1987 by Richard Scott, Kelvin Stone and Pete Hellyer and began its work producing machinery components for UK-based industries. Now under the direction of Ben Hellyer, son of founder Pete, the company has continued to thrive in the modern business world.

“We used to be based in Strattons Walk, Melksham, but moved to Bowerhill and have been here ever since. We focus on the machinery components for big industries in the country and we are looking to expand into the aerospace market. The company has been through multiple recessions but we are still here,” said Mr Hellyer.

“Over the years we have had fluctuating numbers of staff, at the moment we have 20 members and are looking to recruit more as we have plans to grow.”

To celebrate the benchmark in the company’s history, Mr Hellyer and the team met for a quarterly meeting and shared a cake, but the celebration doesn’t end there.

“We are planning a few things over the next few months. We want to all go for a day at the races and maybe a day watching Bath Rugby Club. It is a celebration of all the hard work that has been put in by everyone over the last 30 years. Now we must look forward to the next 30 years in business,” added Mr Hellyer.

The original founders of the company are still present in the minds of Mr Hellyer and other members of staff, not forgetting Kristek’s roots.

“I have been the managing director for the past year-and-a-half, my father is still in a director role. Kelvin is retired but we speak to him regularly. Next year we want to move into the aerospace market and need skilled people to help us do this,” Mr Hellyer said.
