A PRESCHOOL have been left distraught after vandals threw paint over a remembrance bench and damaged play equipment at a local preschool in Box.

Police are currently investigating the mindless vandalism, which took place at Magic Dragon Preschool overnight on Monday and Tuesday (April 10 and April 11) between midnight and 1.50am.

A remembrance bench was also damaged with paint along with a number of village signs. Bits of glass were also left sprawled across the bench.

PCSO Elizabeth Duncan said: “This type of behaviour is nothing but insensitive and irresponsible. The thoughtless actions of the individuals responsible has caused a lot of upset to members of this small village community and has been disruptive to the young children who attend the pre-school.

“We are carrying out enquiries and would like to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard anybody acting suspiciously in the village of Box overnight. We’d like to hear from you so we can build a better picture of the criminal damage caused.”

Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
