ST Laurence School in Bradford on Avon welcomed crowds of colourful pirates and princesses to take part in charity fitness challenges.

Organised by ATP Health and Fitness, the Chippenham-based personal trainers, the Pirates and Princesses Charity Challenge invited locals to visit the school in Ashley Road over the weekend (March 11-12) to take part in circuit training and fitness classes, raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support and Pray for Bella, a charity helping to raise money for Chippenham girl Bella who has leukaemia.

Liza Druce, 22, a personal trainer with ATP, said: “It was a wonderful weekend, everyone looked very good and worked really hard. We had an average of about 50 people per class at one point we had 120 people, it was a really busy day.

“The reason we decided to theme it on princesses is because Bella says she wants to be one, and pirates just because we wanted a dress-up theme for the men as well.”

With the fundraising target set at £2,000, Miss Druce was delighted to find out that the goal has already been surpassed with more donations still coming in.

“We had already got £2,700 with more donations coming in to our Just Giving page. It is wonderful we have collected this much already. We have had an amazing response from the people who took part, it has been really overwhelming,” said Miss Druce.

“I know the grandmother of Bella as I work in Chippenham so the cause is really close to my heart and it is great we can raise this money for young Bella.”
