HOMEOWNERS are being urged to hide their car keys and valuables overnight after two cars were stolen from homes in Trowbridge.

Burglars made their way into an unlocked utility room door at a home in Frome Road, Trowbridge, overnight on March 3 and searched a handbag that had been left downstairs. After rifling through the bag, the thieves stole a wallet, house keys and car keys. After leaving the house, the car keys were then used to unlock and steal a dark blue BMW 3 series from the drive, police later found the car abandoned.

On February 23 thieves broke into a home in Cavell Court, Trowbridge and stole keys to a Vauxhall Insignia which was taken from the driveway. The Vauxhall was also recovered soon after the theft.

A spokesman from Wiltshire Police said: “We are urging people to keep their homes secure and to ensure that all valuables such as car keys and wallets are hidden from sight. Anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in these two areas are asked to call the police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
