DEVIZES MP Claire Perry is backing the search for a new home for the town's food bank.
Ms Perry was told by councillors Richard Gamble and Simon Jacobs that the Devizes Food Bank needed new premises.
She has now asked the chief executive of Great Western Hospitals Foundation Trust, which owns the Devizes Hospital site and buildings, if space could be found on the hospital estate in New Park Road for the main operations centre for the staff and volunteers.
Ms Perry said: “I visited the team at Devizes Food Bank just before Christmas in 2013 and saw first hand the effort and dedication that goes in to running this valuable service.
"It would be a terrible shame if a new home can’t be found and I think the Devizes Hospital site, which has empty space, could be a perfect location for the next few years.
So I have joined forces with the efforts to relocate the food bank and will continue to do my utmost to help the group find a home.
