BEREAVED parents are being invited to a special service to remember their loved-ones or those they never got to meet.

The service called heartease will take place at St John’s Church in Whitbourne Avenue from 4pm on Sunday (October 16).

All are invited and in particular anyone who has suffered the heartache of the loss of a baby or child.

Lay minister Martina Lewis said: “With remembrance services we always remember people who have passed away and people usually think of older people and people who have died in the war.

“We wanted to offer people something to remember their children. We also work with Swindon Sands, the still-birth and neonatal death charity.

“Anyone who has been bereaved can come along, whether they have suffered the loss of a child in their 40s, a new-born, or a miscarriage or abortion.

“It’s about allowing those people to have time to mourn and grieve.”

The service will consist of a song, poem, bible reading and short talk with the theme being ‘never walk alone.’

There will also be the lighting of candles and reading of children’s names if people wish.

After the service there will be tea and coffee, as well as time for people to reflect and talk. Viola tricolors will also be handed out to take home.
