A BABY and toddler group which was under threat of closure this time last year is now celebrating a new improved home and outside play area.

Busy Fingers has relocated to a bigger space in the Haydon Centre, with their previous room becoming a gym run by Greenwich Leisure Limited (GLL).

And now thanks to a £3,200 grant from the Big Lottery Fund, a lack-lustre outside playground has become safer with some artificial grass for children to play on.

“Everyone who has seen it has said how good it looks and I think it looks great,” said Debbie Musa-Eiggie, who runs the group on a volunteer basis.

“Eighteen months ago we thought we would have to look for a new home and now with the support of GLL we have not only a new home, but also a great outside area for the children to play in.

“We had stones there before and it was a nightmare - that’s the only way to describe it - and I got fed up of sweeping it.

“Thanks to the grant we have been able to revamp the outside shared area removing the stones to replace with artificial grass which is much more child friendly.”

The Big Lottery Fund grant paid for all the groundworks after volunteer Kim Jones applied for the money.

The group, which caters for new-borns to teenagers, is also now looking to do additional fundraising to be able to put some more equipment for all those that have access to the shared area.
