A PUB in Calne has kickstarted its Poppy Appeal with a teddy bear naming competition with all proceeds going directly to the charity.
David and Rebecca Leaning, of the White Hart Hotel in Calne, have dressed up their four-foot 'Soldier Bear' in uniform and their smaller bunny with a British Army beret and a REME cap badge and are offering punters 320 names to choose from for just £1.
The couple, who are hoping to double the £2,000 they raised for the Poppy Appeal last year, will entertain visitors with a variety of competitions, quizzes, barn dances and music events over the next month and decorate the perimeter of the pub in poppies.
The name of the bears will be revealed close to Remembrance Sunday.
