A Rolf Harris style artist has been creating a stir in the run up to the Corsham Festival.

The series of live street art performances by John Hicks have been showcased in Chippenham, Cricklade, Wootton Bassett and Corsham.

The displays form part of the Arts Now programme which creates artwork and sculptures that will be displayed at the Corsham Festival.

Education and Outreach co-ordinator Stuart Shotton said: "We have visited a number of local schools and the children have all helped to create garland sculptures.

"We have had such a fantastic response to this and John Hick's street performances.

"The Corsham Festival itself is going swimmingly and we have already sold out of tickets for our main act, Stringfever.

"The people of Wiltshire seem to have embraced both festivals and we are looking forward to a busy and successful run."

Festival organisers have visited Corsham School every day for the past week to get the students involved in the art project.

Mr Shotton added: "The artwork is created through a production line method between local primary school children.

"The artwork produced by children is really the link between the Arts Now Festival and the Corsham Festival."

The Corsham Festival begins on June 23 with a concert by the Orchestra of the Swan, which encompasses a range of musical styles. A number of artists will be making their festival debuts including The Smith Quartet and harpsichordist Jane Chapman.

Chairman of Corsham Town Council Allan Bosley, said: "Corsham Town Council is pleased to be able to support the Corsham Festival for another year and welcome visitors from across the region.".
