READING last week’s Gazette & Herald I notice that £40,000 will be available for the switching on of the Christmas lights.
Please can one of our councillors explain how this can be justified for one evening, when public toilets have to remain closed for several months and are unlikely to be reopened due to the cost of maintenance.
Bath Road car park area has several buses stopping in the area, including the National Express coaches. People are expected to walk to Emery Gate to use toilets there. We really do not encourage people to come into this town by public transport when there are hardly any very basic facilities.
I hope Torvill and Dean enjoy their evening in Chippenham.
