Sheldon students prepping for their A Levels donned their gladrags and celebrated the end of their school education alongside their school friends and teachers at Wellington Barn.

The year 13 students from Sheldon School were stunned by the transformation of the barn for their leavers ball on Friday.

Carolyn Wakefield, Sixth Form Administrator said: "It was a lovely, lovely evening. The kids were fantastic and they were overawed by the barn and I think it exceeded all their expectations.

"Someone said to me earlier that it was the best ball here that they had seen."

The A Level students enjoyed one last night together which included canapes on the patio, a two course sit down meal with wine and a disco, before they sit their exams at the end of the month.

There was one more surprise on the night for the year group, as ex student Ben Conolly, who has been very unwell, was invited back to join all his friends as a final celebration.

Mrs Wakefield said: "One of our old pupils, Ben Connelly came down in his wheelchair as it was his year group and it was really lovely to see him enjoy the night with his mates.

"They were all fantastic company and they all did themselves proud."

The students will also have their leavers day where they will battle it out against their teachers in a number of silly challenges as well as have a barbecue and their last ever assembly before facing their final exams beginning at the end of the month.
