The family of Julie Collier have described a 'lovely person' in a moving tribute following today’s guilty plea to manslaughter by her husband Christopher Collier.
Collier, 53, from Chippenham, pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of his wife at Bristol Crown Court today and was sentenced to four years imprisonment.
The couple had been married for three years but had been together for nearly nine.
Miss Collier suffered with nerve damage to her legs following a fall and needed a wheelchair or mobility scooter to get around with Collier registered as her carer.
A family statement read: "We would like to thank all those who have supported us from the time we heard the news of Julie’s death.
"We were completely devastated to have lost a loving mum, daughter, sister and friend in such a sudden and tragic way.
"She was a lovely person who enjoyed listening to music and would help others when she could. She did not deserve to die in the way she did.
"We would like to thank the police and the Crown Prosecution Service for their work in achieving the justice we have today.
"Julie would have wanted us to continue rebuilding our lives, she will always be remembered and each of us will treasure the memories we have of her."
