KIND-hearted 11-year-old Amelie Stevens was thinking about people who were ill over Christmas and wants to find a way to help so is organising a bake sale to raise money for charity.
The St John’s student from Burbage is hoping to raise as much as possible for Prospect Hospice, where her mum Jan Zriel works as a staff nurse in the inpatient unit at Wroughton.
She has decided to have a bake sale to raise money for the charity on Saturday (23) in All Saints Church in Eastcourt, Burbage between 10am to 2pm.
She is making some baked goodies but is also hoping generous people or keen bakers in the village can help and bring cakes on the day to be sold.
“I just wanted to help people and my mum works with people who are not very well,” Amelie said.
She has been leafleting houses and the Co-op in Pewsey have kindly said they will donate whatever Amelie needs. There will also be hot drinks for people to warm people up.
She added: “My mum is going to be helping me with a few recipes like sticky flapjack. I like baking and one of my friends wants to help me and a couple of people in the village have volunteered to help too.”
Mum Ms Zriel said: “We are all very proud of her in the family as she came up with the idea on her own. Working at Prospect Hospice she hears things from me and in the family about people with cancer and it made her think about things.
“We have had such a good response from people and someone already delivered cakes on Saturday and we have had lots of promises cakes and people wanting to help. It is a very nice village and will hope lots of people will turn up.”
