Armed police officers were called to Bank Row in Calne after receiving reports of a man wielding a gun and threatening violence.
Police officers were at the scene at 3.49pm yesterday (Sunday 20) after a member of the public reported an incident involving a man wielding a firearm in a car park in Bank Row, Calne.
Four police cars and an armed response unit apprehended 23-year-old Calne man Carl Leese at the scene.
Mr Leese is set to appear in front of Swindon Crown Court on January 22.
A police spokesperson said: “We were called to Bank Row, Calne, at 3.49pm on Sunday by a concerned member of public who was witnessing an incident in the car park.
“Due to the nature of the call armed response officers were included in the response to the call.
“Carl Edward Leese, 23, of Warren Crescent, Calne, has been charged with possession of an air weapon with intent to cause fear of violence.”
