Avid readers can now check out crime thrillers and crime prevention with a Wiltshire mobile library.

Wiltshire County Council has teamed up with Wiltshire to deliver the service.

Sam Walsh, a police community support officer based at Cricklade police station, has already travelled with the mobile library on two occasions on a route to the west of the town.

The partnership enables people to get advice and help from the police while picking up the latest bestseller and it is proving popular.

It also enables the popular county council-run library service to extend the range of services available to local people in their communities.

Sam is planning on joining the mobile library during its visits to Oaksey, Chelworth, Crudwell, Upper Minety and Minety on the following dates: May 14, June 25, July 23, August 6, September 3, October 1, November 12 and December 12.

She said: "Over the last few visits with the mobile library I have had a lot of positive feedback from the residents of the five communities we serve.

"Due to this feed back it has been agreed that I will continue joining the library. This will give the community a regular point of contact where they can air their grievances and talk over issues that are bothering them."

Community librarian Tessa Cozens said: "We are delighted to be working in partnership with the police."
