POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man died at the scene of a crash on the A361 today between Devizes and Beckhampton.
Wiltshire Police were called at 6.30am after a car and van collided on the A361, north bound about two miles past the Bishop Cannings/Blacklands crossroads.
A police spokesman said: "The male car driver sadly died at the scene despite medical help.
"The male van driver was taken to the Great Western Hospital.
"Both drivers were from the local area."
Fire crews from Devizes and Melksham had cut one person free.
A spokesman for the South Western Ambulance Service said the van driver suffered a fractured leg and chest injuries.
Two Swift Medics attended as well as Wiltshire Air Ambulance paramedics.

The road was reopened after noon today.
