A LARGE Tesco superstore in Calne is still in the pipeline, although it is not yet known if the firm will find the money to start building it in 2016.
Work on the store, at the junction of Oxford Road and Beversbrook Road, must start within three years of planning permission being granted in November 2013. But the new superstore is not in Tesco’s programme for this financial year.
A Tesco spokesman said: “It remains our intention to open our planned store. We are not yet in a position to confirm an opening date.
“We continue to believe that the store would provide a valued service to the local community and we know that many people are keenly anticipating the opening.
“We are looking forward to bringing new jobs and investment to Calne., and providing local customers with the best we have to offer."
