A MAN in his 40s has died after being hit by a train near Bedwyn Station.
Police were called just after 7.30am on Saturday to reports of a person being struck, however officers are not treating the incident as suspicious.
A British Transport Police (BTP) spokesman said: “We were called to the line close to Bedwyn station at 7.39am on Saturday, 15 August, after a report of a person struck by a train.
“BTP officers attended, alongside colleagues from Wiltshire Police and South Western Ambulance Service.
"A man, believed to a 49-year-old from the local area, was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and officers are now working to prepare a file for the coroner.
“The man’s family has been informed.”
All lines were blocked and First Great Western warned commuters that services may be cancelled, delayed or revised.
