SAINSBURY's in Devizes will close on August 11 ready for a major refit but work has already started to make the store more environmentally friendly.
A 160 ton crane hoisted a new Co2 refrigeration unit onto the roof of the shop last Wednesday. It uses carbon dioxide as a refrigerant gas instead of ozone layer destroying gases that are more commonly used.
The store will close for eight days and re-open on August 19. The Post Office in the shop will close on August 5 for two weeks so it can be brought up to date.
Once the Post Office re-opens it will open seven days a week and for an extra 23 hours.
