MP CLAIRE Perry visited Pewsey Railway Station to see the start of works to replace the 45-year-old footbridge between the platforms.
The new bridge, a £465,000 Network Rail project, is due to ready by October.
Ms Perry, the MP for Devizes, said: "Despite the best efforts of Trevor Bevan MBE, the wonderful station manager, the old bridge at Pewsey is looking very shabby and can be dangerous in icy conditions.
"I am really pleased that Network Rail listened to the concerns of First Great Western and local passengers and are funding this replacement bridge.
"Work is now underway and the new bridge should be in place well before the worst of the winter weather.”
