TRYSTAN Williams, the former head teacher of Springfields Academy in Calne, has been named as the new head at Grafham Grange School in Surrey.

Grafham Grange offers provision for up to 52 vulnerable young boys with social, emotional and mental health difficulties from the age of 10 to 19 years in a grade II listed building set in 42 acres of Surrey countryside near Guildford.

Mr Williams, who started his new job on April 20, was sacked by the Springfields Academy in Calne in March.

He vowed to clear his name after losing his job for failing to remedy an omission of a document to the Local Authority Designated Officer.

Chair of Grafham Grange School Governing Body, David Hope, said: “Grafham Grange School Governors are very pleased to secure the services of Mr Williams.

“We have appointed him on a temporary basis at present and look forward to him achieving for Grafham Grange School what he achieved for the pupils and students of Springfield’s in the past.

“I look forward to seeing the benefits of his talents for Grafham Grange School.”

The news has welcomed by supporters of Mr Williams, many of whom had signed a petition calling for his reinstatement in Calne.

Parent at Springfields Academy, Jennifer Slade, said: “We are absolutely over the moon, its brilliant news for him that he can keep doing what he is really good at.

“It’s great that Trystan Williams can still teach children, he does make a big difference to children’s lives, all the good that he has done over the years he deserves it for everything he has done.”

Grafham Grange School received a ‘Good’ Ofsted inspection in June 2013 an improvement on its ‘Satisfactory’ rating in March 2011.
