CHILDREN put on high-visibility vests and hard hats to get a close look at building work near to their school in Chippenham.
Redland Primary pupils were shown around the construction site last Friday, by Pippin Construction and housing group GreenSquare.
Three detached two-bedroom bungalows, being built for affordable rent, are due to be completed next month.
Caroline Howlett, the development project manager for GreenSquare, said: “Since the pupils have seen the work going on for the past year, they were interested in having a look around and asked really interesting questions.”
The pupils, aged ten and 11, learned how heating and water pipes and power cables were installed, to help them understand how hot water and electricity runs in their own homes. It linked in with their studies on utilities and managing finances.
Teacher Veronika Joy said: “We were delighted to accept the invitation for the children to visit the site.
“It was great for them to have the opportunity to find out exactly what has been going on down the road.”
