Children expressed themselves through tribal beats in a week-long musical extravaganza at Redland Primary School in Chippenham.
Alex Miles of Kaya Drums led workshops with every class, explaining the history of drumming of different cultures such as West Africa and Native America.
The children got to make as much noise as they wanted without disturbing the other classes, by playing in a tent in the school field.
Drummer Martin Rans-combe gave workshops in modern drumming and identifying drums in pop music.
Staff and students from all three secondary schools, and volunteers including parents, performed to inspire more pupils to take up instruments.
Children also used science and technology skills to design and make instruments including xylophones, drums and guitars.
Headteacher Hilary Lam-bert said: “We are always keen to give the children these speciality weeks, where experiences are varied and thrilling.”
The children will perform with their instruments in an assembly to showcase the week’s activities.
