TWO restaurants in Marlborough have cooked up donations to add to the Prospect Savernake Appeal’s fundraising pot.

Godot’s bar and brasserie in Kingsbury Street put on a 1930s cocktails and canapés evening on November 28 and raised £1,601.

It was organised by owner Lesley Powell along with hospice fundraiser Susie Fisher and featured an auction.

Ms Powell said: “It was a really good night, everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. The auction was done by a real character, Peter Coleman, which went down very well.

“Thank you to all the shops and businesses that contributed.”

Moran’s Espresso, in London Road, closed its doors in July but owners Della and Stephen Moran decided to host a one-day opening on December 20 for the appeal.

The couple served coffee and cakes as well as holding a raffle and auction, including a Freddie Flintoff-signed shirt that went for £100, bringing their total to £1,750.

Mrs Moran said: “We set our target at between £500 and £600. It was just an amazing day.

“From 8.45am until we closed the café was full – Steve’s arm was aching from having to use the coffee machine so much.

“We really wanted to end Moran’s on giving something back to Marlborough, because it has always been part of the community.”
