In view of the increasing problems in hospital services, surely it is not beyond the realms of possibly for the GPs of our town and others to put together some sort of clinic to cover weekends and evenings in order to assist their hard-pressed colleagues in A&E?

The majority of the public are responsible people and do not go to A&E unless absolutely necessary, but if no other service exists where are they bound to go if needing medical assistance which cannot wait until the following week?

Sometimes it may be just an antibiotic which is needed or a child who has had an accident and needs a stitch, so a GP and a nurse is all that is required. We do not need appointments, we are prepared to sit and wait. Come on GPs, can you help us?

A patient, Devizes.
