I thought readers would like to know that there has been a new
proposed development, in addition to the 700 Birds Marsh houses
already agreed.
Robert Hitchins has proposed a further 500 houses, schools, retail and business space which would envelop the Langley Burrell parish.
It is clear that, if this development goes ahead, our villages that give Chippenham its rural charm will be engulfed as suburbs and stretch all the way to the M4.
Our agricultural and ecological heritages will be lost as well as social history monuments such as Maud Heath’s Causeway and Kilvert’s country.
There will also be a huge negative impact on the Swindon Road as well as Greenway Lane and Hill Corner Road, making access to Chippenham town from the north impossible in rush hour and affecting the traffic of the whole of Chippenham and surrounding areas. Don’t let opportunistic developers destroy our countryside.
If you wish to object, write to Development Management, Wiltshire Council, Monkton Park, Chippenham, SN15 1ER or email developmentmanagement@wiltshire.
