Five Lanes Primary School children welcomed choir leader Grenville Jones into the school last Friday to learn wartime songs.
Working with teacher Laura Hurn at Five Lanes in Worton, Mr Jones taught the children a specially commissioned medley of First World War songs, as part of a Heritage Lottery project, run by charity Golden Oldies.
For the past five weeks children at the school have worked on projects linked to the Heritage Lottery project, World War One – our Heritage in Songs and Memories, which included wartime music and writing letters home from the front.
Twenty members of the Devizes Good Afternoon Choir also came to the school to hear about the history projects produced by the children and join together to sing the medley.
Mr Jones, Golden Oldies founder, said: “It was a wonderful morning and the school has worked on so many aspects of World War One.”
