On the morning of the Tour of Britain, I listened to an interview with Wiltshire Council leader Jane Scott on BBC Wiltshire Radio.
She was so full of Wiltshire Council’s legacy of promoting cycling after the event, it sounded like a script from the BBC 2012 send- up of the Olympics.
But when the reporter pointed out that it was one thing having a rolling road block to protect a group of elite cyclists and asked what was being done for the ordinary people who cycle, Ms Scott and her colleague completely side-stepped the question.
They made some feeble comment about wearing fluorescent jackets and the fact that the road blocks would only hold up traffic for 50 minutes, not what the reporter asked about.
