People across the county have been fundraising like superheroes at various events as part of Wiltshire Air Ambulance Week.

The charity week, which concludes on Sunday, is aiming to raise £6,850 - the amount it will costs per day to run the service from 2015 when the partnership with Wiltshire Police ends - every day for seven days.

In Devizes, Coral Cove Play and Adventure Centre on Hopton Industrial Estate raised just over £400 on Monday with a bingo and cake sale.

On Tuesday it hosted a superhero themed music time with nursery mascot Ollie while Wednesday saw an arts and crafts morning.

Manager Natasha Brooks said: “My colleagues and I are very lucky.

“We have never had to use the air ambulance but it’s a nice resource in case we ever do.”

Meanwhile in Malmesbury, the air ambulance’s superhero theme was used to help launch a new women’s business network at The King’s Arms Hotel.

Gloucestershire businesswoman and franchise director, Angela De Souza, asked members of the new Women’s Business Club in Malmesbury to dress up as their favourite superhero.

She said: “The Wiltshire Air Ambulance flyer came into our inbox and I just thought it would be a really fun thing to do to help them.”

Women’s Business Club offers support and encouragement for women in business with mentoring, networking events and workshops.

The business club meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month with each event focusing on business growth and supporting women in practical ways.
