People who signed up to Wiltshire Council’s Connect-ing Wiltshire Travel Challenge have made huge savings after walking, cycling and using public transport to get to work.
The online competition, run in partnership with transport charity Sustrans, has attracted more than 400 people who have already saved the equivalent of £4,500 between them by not using their car to get to work.
Prizes are also up for grabs with competitors winning a Kindle, iPod Nano and tickets to Stonehenge.
The challenge has inspired staff at many of Wiltshire's largest employers and so far around 4,000 journeys to work have been made by people walking, cycling, using public transport, car-sharing and even running.
Prizes, including a meal at a Fisheye restaurant and Diana lomography cameras, can still be won. The businesses which come out on top can win a donation to the charity of their choice. More details at wiltshirechallenge.
