Royal Wootton Bassett was a hive of noise on Saturday when town criers from across the country descended on the town for the competition.
Around 20 town criers and 14 escorts decked out in their traditional garb took part in a championship contest hosted by Royal Wootton Bassett’s own Town Crier, Owen Collier, at the Town Hall precinct.
Three junior town criers also joined the adults in a procession from Borough Fields where hundreds had gathered in support.
Trophies and awards were presented by the Mayor of Royal Wootton Bassett Sue Hughes, her deputy Ian Ferries and Owen, who made presentations to the judges and others who helped him to organise the hugely successful event.
The champion crier was Mark Wylie, of Calne while runner up was Peder Nielsen of Bromyard, Herefordshire, and in third place was David Fry of South Gloucester-shire, which includes part of Bristol.
The best dressed crier was Christian Ashdown of Haslemere, Surrey. Best dressed escort was Lilian Heeks of Trowbridge, and the best dressed couple were Mike and Angie Bishop of Frome.
