Homelessness charity Julian House is inviting the public to join the Circuit of Bath circular walk this Sunday.

Now in its 13th year, the 20-mile circular route around Bath aims to help deliver core services to homeless men and women.

Staff of the Julian House shop and Barclays Bank in Chippenham will be stepping out, and the bank has promised to match what its staff raise in sponsorship.

Together they hope to collect £2,000 for the charity, which provides a hostel in Bath and has an online service to allow people to report rough sleepers.

The walk takes in Upper Swainswick, Solsbury Hill, Bathampton, Monkton Combe, Southstoke, Englishcombe, Newton St Loe, Newbridge and Lansdown Park.

A shuttle bus service running between five checkpoints means participants can choose the distance they walk.

Event organiser Cathy Adcock said: “Apart from the amazing scenery, walkers will be able to take in some of the area’s less well-known historical snippets.

“Posters will be placed at selected spots, highlighting for instance Bathampton Church, the final resting place for the founder of Sydney, Arthur Phillip, and a popular pilgrimage location for visiting Australians.

“It amazing to see how many people who have lived in the area, often for many years, but who have never been up Little Solsbury Hill.”
