The driver of the car who died following a crash on the A342 at Wedhampton was renowned international conductor Frank Shipway.
Mr Shipway, 79, lived in Conock, near Devizes, and he stepped in to became director of Devizes Junior Eisteddfod in 2010.
He also worked with orchestras all over the world including Italy’s National Symphony Orchestra of the RAI.
Lisa Jacobs, general administrator of Devizes Junior Eisteddfod, said: “Frank brought a wealth of music knowledge and brought in a number of musicians who were friends of his to adjudicate the children’s classes. He was a renowned conductor and he bought with him that incredible experience and was very passionate about it.
“He was such an enigmatic man and we liked him enormously.”
Mr Shipway was driving a Jaguar XJ8 on the A342 towards Upavon when a collision occurred with a Vauxhall Astravan travelling in the opposite direction on Tuesday just before 5pm.
Mr Shipway was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital but died from his injuries yesterday morning.
Police are renewing their appeal for witnesses to the collision to call them on 101. The driver of the Astravan, a 20-year-old man from Devizes, was airlifted to Southmead Hospital, Bristol, and discharged later the same evening.
