Musicians and DJs from across Wiltshire will be taking to the airwaves on Tuesday after the launch of a community radio station.

Kik Radio will broadcast online and via mobile app 24/7 from Corsham’s Pound Arts Centre.

It has been put together by Mark Lodge, known as producer King P, who has spent the past few months training the station’s future stars.

He said: “It’s taken a while to come together, but over the past few months we have trained over 100 people.

“I have got presenters from young children, primary school age, to teenagers from The Corsham School and adults. I’ve been going to Unity House homeless shelter in Chippenham, and teaching them to do radio, so they will have a show as well.

“There’ll be a couple of people in America doing specialised shows, but most of our presenters are from here. Most radio stations work globally to local, but we’re trying to do local to global.”

The station is still looking for musicians who can submit their work to be played, and is hoping to encourage local talent with a Learn to Play day on Saturday.

Mr Lodge said: “It’s to get anybody, any age to get involved in music, and learn to play an instrument.

“It’s a national scheme where across the country people get an opportunity to try different instruments, and we’re going to be taking over the Arts Centre from 10am to 4pm.

“It’s for any age, and we’ll have some musicians performing live on the day as well.”
